1970-1971
Some of the consultant physicians of Ahmedabad met on March 11, 1970 and decided to form the Association of Physicians of Ahmadabad. An adhoc committee was formed to draft rules, regulations and the constitution. It held its meetings on 19-3-70, 3-4-70 and 10-4-70. Among those who were invited to the meetings were Dr.R.B.Mehta, Dr. S. J. Damany, Dr.S. C. Kusumgar, Dr. R. S. Shah, Dr.Dinesh P. Patel, Dr. Narendra H. Desai, Dr. G. B. Mankad, Dr. C H. Naik, Dr. O. P. Gupta, Dr. J: N. Patel and Dr. Harshad R. Gandhi. Majority of physicians of the city (57) were registered and the first executive committee .was elected on 10-4-70. A non-quorum first general body meeting was also held on the same day. The news of formation of the Association was conveyed to the Indian Medical Association and also to the Association of Physicians of India. Local units, Ahmedabad Medical Association and Association of Surgeons of India, Ahmadabad Branch, were also informed The executive committee met four times to plan activities for the year and also to visualise dreams and devise methods to realise them. Four clinical meetings, each every three months, at the four major hospitals, V. S. Hospital, Civil Hospital, Sharadaben General Hospital and L.G.Hospital, respectively, were held. Dr. P. M.Dalal, Neurologist and head, Topiwala Medical College, Bombay,(Cerebrovascular Accidents, 21-10-70) and Dr. S. K. Mehta. Gastroenterologist Chandighadh, (Tropical Sprue, 19-11-70) were received as guests. Zeal, wisdom and sincerity of purpose of late Dr.R .B. Mehta, the President. Dr. J. N. Patel, Hon. Secretary, and other exec utive committee members set the pace of things to happen in the subsequem years. The first annual report was presented and accepted at the annual genera l body meeting on 22-4- President. Dr. J. N. Patel, Hon. 1971-1972
Dr. C. H. Naik and Dr. N. H. Patel,were elected as PresiĀ­dent and Hon. Secretary, respectively, on 2 2-4 -71 at the annnal general body meeting that was attended by 13 members. The executive committee met three times in the year. Four clinic meetings .each at one of the four major hospitals and two film shows were arranged. Between 20 and 30 membe rs and many postgraduate students participated. At each clinical meeting.4 to 5 interesting cases were presented and discussed. The tempo of initial enthusiasm was maintained and even strengthened.On 15-3-72, at the annual genera l body an account of the year 's Activity was presented and discussed in the Hon. Secretary's annual report.

1972-1973
On 15-3-72, at the annual general body meeting Dr. S. J. Damany, President, S. J. Dumara, Hon. Secretary and the executive committee took over the charge. The executive committee met 3 to 4 times in that year to Arrange four clinical meetings at major general hospitals. On 28-3-73, at the annual general body meeting, the Hon. Secretary, presented the annual report. Election of the next year's executive committee was accomplished unanimously as usual.
